Westray Horse Treks, Te Anau, Fiordland - Rides and Prices
Our rides last approximately 2-3 hours in the saddle and our stables are located 5 minutes drive from the Te Anau township. Shorter rides are available by negotiation. We are flexible on our departure times for groups to fit in with your other chosen activities.
Our rides let you see what splendid views the area has to offer. We start off from the stable yard working our way through our fields with mares and foals joining up or just being curious. We ride to a high point of the Te Anau basin to earn the panoramic 360 degree view of the spectacular mountain ranges and sparkling waters of Lake Te Anau. We have a rest and light refreshment before setting off again.
For those wanting to canter, there is an ideal spot while the others watch or join in at their leisure.
We have horses to suit all levels of riders confidence. Beginners and people with no previous experience are welcome - our horses are calm and will look after you.
For the more experience riders we have horses with a bit more spirit so we can match a horse to you so you can have fun too.
Our departure times are as follows (these are flexible and we are happy to fit in with groups schedules)
- Morning ride 9:30 am
- Afternoon ride 2:00 pm

What to bring
- Sunscreen and a windbreaker / light rain jacket
- Camera
(your guide will take a photo of you and your horse with the mountains or lake as a magnificient memento for you)
- Sturdy footwear
- Long trousers
